Birthday Bash at Huck's Cafe, Bangsar

my favourite month of May just slipped off quietly without me realising it and i turned 28 officially 2 weeks ago~ a step closer to the gate of 30s... as i grow older, i opt for simpler things... no more happening birthday celebrations or fancy birthday presents... sign of getting old i suppose... =D
as i was planning my birthday bash with my gang and my love one, Huck's Cafe was already on top of the list... i was trying to book a table for 2 initially, unfortunately their couple quota was already full though i made the request one and a half month earlier... yes, they always got full house on weekends, plan really ahead if you want to dine with them on weekends or go on weekdays...
of course, i didn't give up on celebrating my birthday at Huck's Cafe, else i will not be writing this right now... got my 38 gang agreed to dine with me two days earlier to my birthday as an early celebration (cause i got to work for an event on my birthday eve, event life! =/ )... wrote to Huck's Cafe and got the confirmation on my table for 10 immediately~ efficient as usual... =)
my 38 gang
we took the RM88/pax menu, Huck didn't increase the price of his menu though the price of things in our beloved country has gone really high up... another reason why you shouldn't miss dining at Huck's Cafe and there started my simple but heart warming birthday bash with my gang and good food...
Basil Seed Soda
the signature welcome drink...
as we stepped into the bungalow, their friendly staff was ready to serve us...
we do not arrived at the same time, but we all got our drink right after we seated...
extremely alert, don't they?
Acar Sarawak Keropok
our appetizer of the night, another signature of Huck's Cafe...
the Acar Sarawak Keropok tasted as good as i remember...
i've been missing this for 2 years...
yea, i know! i took too long to visit them again, next time won't be so long i'm sure...
Mushroom Soup
one of the soups of the day...
still the very big bowl and filled with lots of chopped mushrooms...
creamy, rich and tasty...
i was actually half full when i finished the soup... XD
Tomato Soup
another soup of the day -- tomato soup...
flavourful, appetizing and delicious~
a tad of spiciness in the mouth opened the taste bud...
just nice before the main courses...
Cottage Lamb Stew Pie
i'm a lamb lover and i'm seriously in love with this stew pie!!
it was so heavenly nice!!
not only flavourful, the lamb was stewed to perfection too...
the gravy was not overpowering, yet enhanced the flavour of the lamb...
oh my gosh!! i'm missing this Cottage Lamb Stew Pie already!!
Cordon Bleu Apples
my another favourite of the night...
it was so different than what we normally have for Chicken Cordon Bleu...
chicken with cheese and ham in it, baked with apple slices...
see the cheese coming out?
so cheesy, so tender, so nice!!
the sweetness of the apples just nicely blended with the cheese...
argh!! only writing about the second main course and i'm already feeling hungry...
Sacromonte Prune Lamb Shank
this Lamb Shank was a surprise by Huck...
he was so kind to slot in a RM150 menu's main course for me...
this lamb shank was an improvised dish from what Huck tasted in Europe during his trip...
the lamb was tender and juicy, the prunes actually added the flavour of it~
if you are taking the RM150/pax menu, don't forget to ask for this... ;-)
Grilled Salmon Basil Pesto Sauce Salsa with Orange Butter Sauce
grilled salmon might looked normal, but together with the basil pesto sauce salsa, it actually tasted very different... the nice sense of different of course...
i forgot to try the orange butter sauce as i normally don't take any sauces with my grilled salmon...
since my buddies had wipe it all clean, i would assume it was really good~ =D
Seafood Risotto
as i already chosen 8 main courses, i stated to Huck what i've tasted before and got him to surprise me with the remaining 2 main courses...
the earlier lamb shank was one, then this seafood risotto was the another one...
risotto will never be my choice as it always make me feel "too much" towards the end...
but i've been asking for more after i tasted this risotto...
the seafood was really fresh, not too overly cheesy and sticky...
everything just matched so perfectly and nice!!
Beer Butt
Beer Butt was a whole chicken with a beer stuck in the butt...
i should have asked for permission to take a photo of the whole chicken with the beer on the butt...
this chopped version didn't really show the idea of it... XD
baked chicken with some Malay fusion i would say...
it tasted slightly like ayam percik, with the strong taste of spices and a little spicy...
chicken was just nicely baked, only i'm not a big fan of percik...
well, others all enjoyed it very much~
a friendly reminder, a minimum of 4 pax required in order to have this Beer Butt...
i'm interested with the Apples Cava now, the same stuffed butt chicken but with apple instead...
my target for next, try the RM150 menu!! =D
Portobello Rocket
stuffed portobello mushrooms topped with cheese ad rocket leaves...
good for vegetarian...
don't get me wrong, we don't have vegetarian diners with us that night...
i ordered this simply because i love portobello mushrooms... ha!
Ice Lemon Tea
second drink served after we were all done with the main courses...
Ice Lemon Tea was just nice to ease our stomach for the desserts...
Durian Mudpie Ice Cream
people who know me well will know that durian and i are totally enemies...
not only i don't fancy this king of fruit, i can't stand the smell of it too... =(
i was forced to allow them for having this famous dessert of Huck's Cafe...
what to do? majority wins... even the birthday girl got to obey... haha!
i suppose this Durian Mudpie Ice Cream was really great...
they finished 3 of this dessert in seconds...
durian lovers, this is a must have item okay? XD
Iainies Lemon
this lemon cake was a new creation...
Huck created it for his children and of course now for all his guests...
strong in the taste of lemon and moisture...
it tend to refresh my taste bud after the heavy meal but people who do not fancy sour will not enjoy it, just like my love one...
Chocolate Mudpie Ice Cream
similar to the Durian Mudpie Ice Cream, but it was chocolate instead...
I LOVE IT!! i never have sweet tooth, but this was just simply awesome...
not overly sweet and the chocolate chips and biscuit bits were just so nice!! yums!!
Creme Brulee
my tiny birthday "cake" = my all time favourite creme brulee...
this is still the best creme brulee in town to me...
not too sweet, not too custard, not too soft... i can finish it all for everyone else~ =D
talking about my birthday cake, i must share the story of it...
one of the staff was really funny and cute...
he approached me quietly before he served us the desserts and said "someone's birthday is it?"...
i guess he was trying to surprise the birthday girl, which is me!! haha!!
so i answered "ya, me loh!! hahaha~"
i will never forget his expression after my answer, he was so cute!!
he then said "oh... then i put a candle for you lah..."
thank you so much, cute staff... sorry that i forgot to ask for your name...
but i thank you sincerely from my bottom heart...
you just made my birthday bash even greater... =)
Kopi 'O'
what could be better than finishing the meal with a cup of nice coffee?
yes, they served good Kopi 'O'...
though i didn't have it, but i can tell from the fragrance of it...
Hot Tea
i had tea instead because coffee after 3pm will cause my insomnia...
a cup of hot tea, just nice to wrapped the dinner up...
photo session followed of course and lots of chit chat, laughter...
with the charming chef, Huck
never forget the most important man behind the great dinner...
the charming chef, Huck...
thanks for your wishes and the great food~
see you soon!! this time will not be 2 years later... =)

again, i had a great dining experience with Huck's Cafe... if one ask me whether will i visit Huck's Cafe again, my answer is certain, even if i've tried all the menu... but i'm sure i will never finish trying, because Huck will always have something new and creative ready for his guests... well, he is more like a friend to me now... =) thanks again Huck, for making my 28th birthday a great one... also, my appreciation and respect to all the staff for their helpfulness and attentiveness... you guys have made a mark in the industry... keep it on!! ^^
