there are so many things cannot be missed in Malacca...
every time i visit Malacca, i have a to-eat list~
no doubt the famous chicken rice ball will always be at the top of the list...
now, to enjoy an expensive "afternoon tea" at Hard Rock will also be added into my list...
apart from these, something really good for a hot sunny day is also one of the top 3...
Cendol |
i can have 3 of this in a row...
and after trying on so many different ones, i still prefer the one i first tried...
the one in middle of Jonker Street, the one always with a long long queue in front...
the one named Jonker 88~
Jonker 88 |
Jonker 88 was not only a food stall, it's like a mini museum inside...
the owner collected quite a bits of old cultural stuff and had them all displaying in the cafe~
i didn't get a chance to take picture of the interior...
it was just like those old old houses with a patio in the middle...
quite spacious, but still very crowded most of the time...
we were there before the lunch crowd...
still we waited quite a while for tables...
Baba Cendol |
that's how they named it...
i love this dessert so so so much!!
it was really nice with the Gula Melaka...
not too sweet but so flavourful...
with generous ingredients like fresh cendol and big red beans added...
oh my~ top of the world!!
apart from this cendol, they served many other desserts too...
check them out on the menu hanging on the stall...
there were also another stalls serving food...
one of them was the noodle stalls...
Nyonya Asam Laksa |
one of the famous items i suppose...
i saw almost every table has 1 order of this...
it was really quite good...
the broth was rich and flavourful, with generous mashed sardine and other ingredients...
the noodles were perfectly cooked, soft but still chewy...
Baba Laksa |
Baba Laksa is like a mixture of Laksa and curry...
but it doesn't taste like the curry laksa that i always have in KL...
i would say it was not bad but not to what i like...
i still prefer either curry or asam laksa... haha! =D
Nasi Lemak with Chicken Curry |
as usual, baby sis craving for nasi lemak so badly...
and this nasi lemak drove my baby niece crazy too...
the coconut milk rice was good with not overly strong fragrance and taste...
sambal was just perfectly hot and spicy...
chicken curry was nice too with thick broth and tender soft chicken pieces...
will surely return and have more... =)
Jonker 88 has became one of the MUST go cafe in Malacca to me...
no matter how much i ate before visiting Jonker 88, i will still have at least 2 bowls of cendol...
well, i'm saying this based on my personal liking...
some might find the other stalls or restaurants served better cendol...
if you happened to pass by and feel like having something cold...
try them out and you will know whether it fits your taste bud...
i'm craving for the cendol now and it's way too far for me to have it... =(
Address: 88, Jalan Hang Jebat, 75200 Melaka.
